MCC IHM Holds A Great Gatsby Party

The MCC Institute of Hospitality Management (IHM), in cooperation with the IHM Student Council, Hotel and Restaurant Management Society and League of Tourism Students of the Philippines, held the IHM Freshman Solidarity Night on July 26, 2015 at the Garden of Petals and Petals, Mabiga, Mabalacat City, Pampanga. The party started at 5 PM.

Partying with a theme of The Great Gatsby Party, IHM freshmen put aside, for the moment, their College uniforms and donned themselves in fabulous 1920s gowns, with feathered head pieces and bouffant coiffure or suits and bow ties. It was, indeed, a night of glamour.

Atty. Robert John I. Donesa, MCC’s Vice President for Administration, opened the event with a challenge: that each Freshman present must make a vow to hold on through College and that after four years, we will all meet again in a party called Senior’s Night. Statistics show that only one of every three freshmen made it through College.

Mr. Jaymart B. Lorenzo, an alumnus of the Institute with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Magna Cum Laude, is the night’s guest speaker. He urged the students to be proud of their College – the Mabalacat City College. He reminded the freshmen to be determined and work hard to realize their dreams.

IHM Dean Diana G. Varona commended the organizers and their advisers for a fabulous party. The MCC Performing Arts threw in exhilarating dance numbers. Each freshman class also presented surprising acts. Different awards were given to those who shine that night. Mr. John Murphy Bernardo and Ms. Joanna Joy Limpin were adjudged as Mr. and Ms. Gatsby. The party ended with a disco.

Congratulations to all the faculty organizers, especially Mr. Lloyd D. Feliciano and Ms. Maricar S. Besa, for a successful party. Oh what a party, it was just awesome!

Beautiful ladies enjoying the party.

Atty. Robert John I. Donesa, VP Administration greeted the glamourous audience.

Successful alumnus Jaymart B. Lorenzo inspired the younger batch.

Novo Concertante Manila Wowed Kapampangan Audience with beautiful Christmas Songs

Novo Concertante Manila wowed their Kapampangan audience with their unforgettable renditions of Christmas songs during the Paskong Paolino: A Thanksgiving Through Carols. The concert was held last December 6, 2014, 6:30 p.m., at the St. Paul Novitiate Chapel, Sindalan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

Novo Concertante Manila and Andrean Laboratory Vocal Ensemble preparing for a grand finale.
Under the direction of Mr. Arwin Tan, a Philippine Madrigal Singers (the Madz) alumnus, the choir carried on the madrigal tradition of a cappella singing. But, unlike the Madz, which now allows some accompaniments, the group prefer to sing strictly a cappella. It also has a conductor, Mr. Arwin Tan himself. Their renditions of traditional Christmas songs are unforgettable. Included in the repertoire were: Guy Forbes' O Nata Lux, Moses Hogan's Ride the Chariot, Freddie Aguilar's Anak, Lennon Mc Cartney's Lady Madonna and many more.

Singing back to back with the Concertante is the Andrean Laboratory Vocal Ensemble (ALab) under the direction of Ms. Odette B. Galura and Mr. Joseph James L. Doak. ALab is an ensemble of singers from different choirs of St. Andrew Cathedral, Paranaque City. They entertained the crowd with their beautiful renditions of Gino Torres' Magnificat, John Rutter's Deck the Hall and Christmas Lullaby, Andre J. Thomas' African Noel and many more.

It was a heartwarming way to start the Christmas season. I look forward to seeing them again in their future concerts. With me at the concert are Mesdames Lula S. Elica, Grace F. Tyler and Maribeth C. Saladino.
